What can I expect in my first session?
Our first session together is less about filling out forms and more about simply getting to know one another. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you're hoping might shift, and any questions you have about how the process works. There's no pressure to have it all figured out or to share more than feels comfortable — we move at whatever pace feels right for you, and the conversation unfolds naturally from there.
What does ongoing therapy look like?
From session to session, therapy tends to settle into a rhythm that reflects your own needs and goals. Some weeks we might focus on a specific pattern or memory that feels ready to be explored; other times the conversation may focus on weekly stressors.
What do sessions cost?
Rates start at $150 for individuals, and $180 for couples. I offer a sliding scale based on need and availability.
Do you accept insurance, or are there other payment options?
Yes! I accept Cigna, Aetna and Optum/United Healthcare. However, Insurance coverage and payment options can differ quite a bit depending on individual plans, so I always recommend confirming coverage directly with your insurance provider. I also accept HSA/FSA cards.
What therapy approaches do you use?
I draw on a few complementary approaches, chosen to fit what feels most supportive for you in a given moment. Each is grounded in respect for your pace and your own sense of what's needed:
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) — a structured approach that helps the brain process difficult or stuck memories, often easing the intensity they carry in the body and mind.
- The Gottman Method — a research-informed approach to relationships that offers practical tools for communication, conflict, and connection, useful for couples and for understanding relational patterns more broadly.
- Person-centered, strengths-based care — therapy that follows your lead, honors the resources and resilience you already carry, and builds from there rather than starting from what's assumed to be missing.
Still Have Questions?
Every person's path to therapy looks a little different, and it's natural to have questions that are specific to you. If you'd like to talk through anything — fees, approach, scheduling, or simply what to expect — please reach out to Archetype Therapy directly. You're also welcome to schedule a consultation whenever you feel ready to take that first step.
